Grossman named Capital Campaign Director for Harry Chapin Food Bank

Darlene Grossman has joined the Harry Chapin Food Bank as Capital Campaign Director. She will work with the Campaign Committee and the southwest Florida community at large to identify new donors and funding sources and organize initiatives to solicit their support. She will also be responsible for all aspects of the campaign in achieving its goal of $4.5 million.

Grossman has devoted her career to the cultivation and solicitation of donors and creating new and creative fundraising vehicles, including 16 years with The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, serving as President/CEO. In addition, several years were dedicated to business development and fundraising efforts with hospice programs in Fort Myers and Naples. On the corporate level she has worked in marketing, public relations and special events for The News-Press and Conric PR & Marketing.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of 186 local nonprofit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties, who provide food to more than 30,000 people monthly. Over 1 million pounds of food are distributed monthly. For every dollar donated, about $6 in food value goes back to the community. In the past fiscal year, The Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed 12.5 million pounds of food and other grocery products; this was a 31% increase over the previous year.
