New 9/1/2011

Bonita Beach Road Six-Laning -Old 41 to Lime Street

Lee County begins work to widen existing Bonita Beach Road from four to six lanes from Old 41 to Lime Street. Bicycle and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout project; however, it may be limited to one side of Bonita Beach Road.

Crews are currently installing erosion control and construction signs along Bonita Beach Road and removing curb and median. This work may require nighttime lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Utility relocation work is also underway. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway.

Underground utility work will be a large part of this project. Please use caution when traveling in the work zone. The project is scheduled to be complete in early 2013. Update 8/31/2011

Cape Coral Toll Plaza Demolition/Reconstruction Demolition and reconstruction at the toll plaza continues. The four westbound lanes are shifted to the south (lanes 1 through 4 are shifted to lanes 5 through 8).

Effective immediately, “oversized load” trucks are NOT permitted through the travel lanes of Cape Coral Toll plaza (in either direction). This includes oversized load trucks with State permits. Oversized load truckers should use the Midpoint or north bridges for access to Fort Myers while the toll plaza is under construction. Update 9/1/2011

Six Mile Cypress Parkway Four Laning Daniels Parkway to south of Winkler Road Weather permitting, crews will be working on the Penzance Boulevard intersection. This work requires the closing of one lane on Penzance Boulevard at Six Mile Cypress Parkway. Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic. Motorists should expect short delays.

Southbound Six Mile Cypress Parkway traffic is shifted to the east just south of Heritage Palms Boulevard. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway. This project will widen the two-lane section of Six Mile Cypress to a four-lane divided highway. This work will include the installation of a signalized intersection at Penzance Boulevard and the addition of a paved path along the west side of the roadway from Heritage Palms to Daniels Parkway. Road & Bridge Projects

Update 8/17/2011

Colonial Blvd (CR 884) Six Laning from I-75 to State Rd 82 (approx. 2.7 miles in length)

Construction activities began on Monday, August 10, 2009. Proposed work consists of widening an existing four-lane highway facility, to a six-lane urbanized divided highway. This will include the installation of street lighting, signalization, bridge widening and utility modifications. Two 8-foot wide asphalt multi-use sidewalks along the north and south sides of the road will be added. The tentative completion date is September, 2011. Daniels Parkway Six Laning – Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard

Lee County is widening Daniels Parkway from four to six lanes from Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard. This project includes reconstructing the Daniels Parkway and Chamberlin Parkway intersection to create a four way signalized intersection. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway. Crews are working in the Daniels Parkway median between Chamberlin Parkway and Gateway Boulevard.

*Through Fall 2011, Chana Court will be closed at Daniels Parkway for crews to install signals and construct the north side of the Chamberlin Parkway intersection. Local traffic will be permitted access to Chana Court from Treeline Avenue.

The majority of the widening along Daniels Parkway will take place within the median along with some minor shoulder widening and turn lane construction occurring along the outside lanes. Motorists should expect eastbound and westbound lane closures on Daniels Parkway between Chamberlin Parkway and Gateway Boulevard during nighttime/overnight work from 9 p.m. to 5

a.m. (excluding Friday night/overnight, Saturday night/overnight and Sunday night/overnight). Landscaping within the median will be installed as part of the project. In addition, this project will mill and resurface Daniels Parkway from Treeline Avenue to Fuel Farm Road. The roadway work is expected to be complete in February 2012. The contractor is Better Roads, Inc. Matlacha Bridge

The replacement of the Matlacha Bridge began October 11, 2010. Traffic will remain on the existing bridge with reduced lane widths; the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained during daylight hours. The project will take approximately two years. Additional information is available on the project website at matlachabridge.info. The Matlacha Bridge will periodically be reduced to one lane of traffic. Motorists should expect delays. Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic.

Update 8/17/2011

Summerlin Rd. – from Cypress Lake Dr. to Boy Scout Rd. Work is underway to complete the overpass, place final asphalt, signs and pavement markings. Project completion is September, 2011. Please contact Sarah Clarke at 533-8718 with any questions.

II. Road/Bridge Maintenance

Cape Coral Bridge #124044, on College Parkway WB over Caloosahatchee – Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the concrete repairs and overlay project for Cape Coral Bridge. The job is scheduled to start March 21st, 2011 and finish September 2011, weather permitting. There will be single lane closures from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Variable message boards will be placed to alert drivers to bridge closures. If you have any questions, please contact Ehab Guirguis at 533-9400.

III. Landscaping

US 41 Landscaping Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the installation of irrigation and landscaping along US 41, between Littleton Road and the Charlotte County Line.
