Trixie, the lost and disabled Chihuahua that walks on two legs, has finally found her forever home. Her local story touched the nation. Her happy ending came true on October 22 when Trixie was officially adopted by veterinarian, Eleanor Cooke. Dr. Cooke promises to give her all the love, attention, and pampering she deserves.

Trixie’s story went viral when it was first released on October 11th. Local TV reports were picked up by the Today Show, CNN, and even the Weather Channel generating calls from across the country. Trixie’s plight spread like wildfire on Facebook reaching folks in Canada and even Romania! Everyone had the same wish for the endearing little dog whose back legs were paralyzed but compensated by walking on her two front legs.

Well wishes poured in and some offers to adopt her. However, none of the applications were the right fit for Trixie and she went to live in a temporary foster home until a permanent home could be found. As updates on Trixie continued to air, Dr. Cooke heard about the remarkable little dog and offered to give her a home.

“We are thrilled she found her forever home with a veterinarian,” says Donna Ward, LCDAS Director. “No one knows how Trixie was injured or what medical problems she will have later in life, so knowing that she will be loved and cared for by a veterinarian is more than we could have hoped for her,” she adds.
