Cape fugitive added to Crime Stoppers 10 Most Wanted List
A Cape Coral man dodging charges of grand theft auto is now the latest addition to Crime Stoppers 10 Most Wanted list.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Garrett Kern, DOB 12/26/87, after he fled the area with a 2009 dark grey Volvo S80, which belonged to his grandfather, James Arthur, who has been missing since last Thursday, October 27th. Kern is additionally considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his grandfather. Arthur was last seen with Kern leaving the Probation Office in downtown Fort Myers last Thursday morning, then showed up at a Cape Coral pool hall a short time later, driving his grandfather’s car. It is believed that Kern has since fled the area, and could be in Illinois at this time.
Kern is no stranger to law enforcement, with numerous felony arrests dating back to age 15, when he was arrested for weapons and burglary charges. As an adult, he’s been jailed six times in the last two years on charges ranging from drugs to theft. His most recent arrest was on August 12th, for numerous counts of burglary and theft. He was released from jail on those charges last Thursday morning.
Detectives with the Cape Coral Police Department are working in unison with the US Marshal’s Office in the search for Kern. However, anyone with information on Kern’s whereabouts, or his possible involvement in the disappearance of James Arthur, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
