Fall Festival at Foxmoor Plaza to benefit Toys For Tots

The third annual Fall Festival – featuring food, fun and more to benefit Toys for Tots – -is set for Thursday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Foxmoor Plaza.
There will be discounts, free food, kid’s activities, live entertainment and more at their Bayshore Road Plaza, known locally as the Sweetbay Plaza, at 5660 Bayshore Rd.
Business owners in the plaza will provide discounts, activities and more.
If you can’t bring a new, unwrapped toy, you can make a small donation, organizers said.
Toys can be purchased inexpensively at several of the plaza stores, including Family Dollar, Bealls Outlet and Sweetbay.
The purpose of the Fall Festival is not just a celebration, but to get donations for Toys For Tots, said BG’s Hair Salon Owner and Festival Coordinator Maria Palermo.
Owners and employees of Foxmoor Plaza that will participate in the Annual Fall Festival for Toys For Tots include BG’s Salon Owners Palermo and Del Heussner, with staff Linda Gordon, Marilyn Thoman, Mindy Smith, and Katie Holberg; Water & Ice Store’s owner’s Joy and Chris Truax; Brandon and Debbie Piercey of Quik Pack & Ship; Stella Whidden of The Book Rack and Sonny Nguyen, owner of JJ Nails, Reno’s, Bayshore Billiards, Subway and more.
Other participants include Sweetbay Supermarket, which will host the award-winning Bayshore Elementary Cloggers at 6 p.m.
Among the discounts and freebies, a coupon for a five gallon refill of water will be offered if you bring in a toy, said Joy Truax, owner of the Water and Ice Store.
“We will offer four books for $1,” said Stella Whidden of The Book Rack.
Debbie Piercy of Quik Pack & Ship said, “We’ll have popcorn while collecting toys.”
Bayshore Billiards will have hot dogs for a small donation.
Members of the Old Bridge Yacht Club will also be there to support the event. Their group includes Yacht Club Captain Al Trebbien, Harold and Phyllis Swift, who handle bikes and toy donations for Toys for Tots, Lanita Llweellyn known as Mother Goose and Yacht Club treasurer Les Howes.
Howes said, “We not only collect toys from our community and local merchants, but also bicycles.”
Lanita Llewellyn often dresses in character for events, including Mother Goose, to help raise funds.
“Several of us dress up when we have events, pass out candy, and everyone enjoys it.”
Their group will do face painting for children and more.
