Update 11/3/2011
Bonita Beach Road Six-Laning -Old 41 to Lime Street
Lee County continues work to widen existing Bonita Beach Road from four to six lanes from Old 41 to Lime Street. This project, jointly funded by Lee County Department of Transportation and the City of Bonita Springs, completes the six-laning of Bonita Beach Road from Old 41 to I-75 and and adds a bike lane and sidewalk in each direction. Bicycle and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout project; however, it may be limited to one side of Bonita Beach Road.
Beginning on Sunday, November 6 through Thursday, November 16, during the nighttime/overnight hours of 7 p.m. 6 a.m., WESTBOUND BONITA BEACH ROAD WILL BE DETOURED north on Imperial Street to west on East Terry Street to south on Old 41 for underground work. This detour will continue nightly (except Friday and Saturday nights), WEATHER PERMITTING. Eastbound Bonita Beach Road traffic will not be affected.
Clearing continues along Bonita Beach Road. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway.
Underground utility work will be a large part of this project. The decorative street lighting remains along the roadway and median landscaping will be installed. Please use caution when traveling in the work zone. The project is scheduled to be complete in early 2013. The contractor is APAC Southeast, Inc. Update 11/3/2011
Three Oaks Pkwy and Corkscrew Rd Intersection a Lee County contractor will be milling, paving, and re-striping the intersection of Three Oaks Parkway and Corkscrew Road beginning Monday Nov. 1, 2011, at 7:00 pm. The contractor will work through the night and will be off the roadway by 6:00 am. Night time milling and paving operations will continue through Friday, November 4, 2011. Update 8/31/2011
Cape Coral Toll Plaza Demolition/Reconstruction
Demolition and reconstruction at the toll plaza continues. The four westbound lanes are shifted to the south (lanes 1 through 4 are shifted to lanes 5 through 8).
Effective immediately, “oversized load” trucks are NOT permitted through the travel lanes of Cape Coral Toll plaza (in either direction). This includes oversized load trucks with State permits. Oversized load truckers should use the Midpoint or north bridges for access to Fort Myers while the toll plaza is under construction. Colonial Blvd (CR 884) Six Laning from I-75 to State Rd 82 (approx. 2.7 miles in length)
Construction activities began on Monday, August 10, 2009. Proposed work consists of widening an existing four-lane highway facility, to a six-lane urbanized divided highway. This will include the installation of street lighting, signalization, bridge widening and utility modifications. Two 8-foot wide asphalt multi-use sidewalks along the north and south sides of the road will be added.

Daniels Parkway Six Laning – Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard
Lee County is widening Daniels Parkway from four to six lanes from Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard. This project includes reconstructing the Daniels Parkway and Chamberlin Parkway intersection to create a four way signalized intersection. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway. Crews are working in the Daniels Parkway median between Chamberlin Parkway and Gateway Boulevard and in the turn lanes for the new Boston Red Sox Stadium.
*Through Spring 2012, Chana Court will be closed at Daniels Parkway for crews to install signals and construct the north side of the Chamberlin Parkway intersection. Local traffic will be permitted access to Chana Court from Treeline Avenue.
The majority of the widening along Daniels Parkway will take place within the median along with some minor shoulder widening and turn lane construction occurring along the outside lanes. Landscaping within the median will be installed as part of the project. In addition, this project will mill and resurface Daniels Parkway from Treeline Avenue to Fuel Farm Road. The roadway work is expected to be complete in February 2012. The contractor is Better Roads, Inc. Matlacha Bridge
The replacement of the Matlacha Bridge began October 11, 2010. Traffic will remain on the existing bridge with reduced lane widths; the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained during daylight hours. The project will take approximately two years. Additional information is available on the project website at matlachabridge.info. The Matlacha Bridge will periodically be reduced to one lane of traffic. Motorists should expect delays. Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic.

Six Mile Cypress Parkway Four Laning Daniels Parkway to south of Winkler Road
Motorists should expect traffic shifts throughout the project. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway. This project will widen the two-lane section of Six Mile Cypress to a four-lane divided highway. This work will include the installation of a signalized intersection at Penzance Boulevard and the addition of a paved path along the west side of the roadway from Heritage Palms to Daniels Parkway. Summerlin Rd. – from Cypress Lake Dr. to Boy Scout Rd. Work is underway to complete the overpass, place final asphalt, signs and pavement markings. Project completion is November, 2011. Please contact Sarah Clarke at 533-8718 with any questions.

Big Hickory Pass #120026 and Little Carlos Pass # 120055, on Bonita Beach Road – Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the concrete repairs and overlay project for the Big Hickory and Little Carlos Bridges. The job is scheduled to start November 7th, 2011 and finish early 2012, weather permitting. There will be single lane closures from7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Veterans Memorial Parkway Country Club to Del Prado- Installation of underground fiber conduits will begin starting Friday October 7th on the north east corner of Veterans and Country Club proceeding east to Del Prado. Men and equipment will be working in close proximity to the westbound travel lanes. There are no anticipated lane closures. The tentative completion date is Friday November 11, 2011. III. Landscaping
US 41 Landscaping Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the installation of irrigation and landscaping along US 41, between Littleton Road and the Charlotte County Line.
