Victory Baptist Church to dedicate Military Wall of Honor

Victory Baptist Church will formally present a military Wall of Honor in a special ceremony on Veterans Day Sunday, Nov. 6.
“We are a very patriotic church,” said Pastor John Matey. Patriotic holidays have always been a big thing around our church.
He said they keep 8 x 10 photos of relatives who are in active duty in the military on a wall there. A couple of months ago, Steve Dralle (church member) came up with the idea of a Wall of Honor for all of our veterans as well as our active duty personnel.”
A Vietnam veteran, Draile’s photo, along with those of many other veterans from the congregation, will be on the new wall.
“We invite everyone to attend this great service to dedicate our wall and to thank all our veterans and active duty personnel who have kept America a free country,” Matey said.
“Also, Petty Officer 1st Class Jerome Nurse of the Navy will honor us by presenting the colors. You will be much impressed. Nurse has served our country for 12 years.”
Matey has a large family history of his relatives that have served in the service, including himself.
“I was stationed in Germany for 30 months.”
The presentation will begin at 11 a.m.
Victory Baptist Church is at 15580 Hart Rd. in North Fort Myers.
