Deputy Involved in Shooting in Cape Coral
On Tuesday, December 27, 2011 the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force received information out of New Hampshire as to the whereabouts of a wanted felon. The individual was known to be armed and dangerous. Just after 11:00 a.m., members of the task force responded to the 500 block of SE 6th Avenue, Cape Coral to serve the warrant. The wanted man could be seen inside the home. When task force members made contact with the subject, he fled to a bedroom. A Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy assigned to the task force confronted the subject who was armed with a gun. The deputy fired his weapon striking the subject who died at the scene.
The U.S. Marshal’s Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force is comprised of law enforcement officers from FDLE, Cape Coral Police Department, Fort Myers Police Department, the U.S. Marshal’s Office and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
