NEW LISTINGS AND UPDATES THIS WEEK
New 12/1/2011
12th St. W Lehigh Road closure between Douglas Ave N to Collins Ave. starting 12/6/2011 through 12/9/2011 between the hours of 9am to 3pm. The traffic will be detoured to Douglas Ave N to 13th St, east to Collins Ave N and then south to 12th St W again, completing the detour. Any questions should be directed to Joe Frantz, 707-6946.

Bonita Beach Road Six-Laning -Old 41 to Lime Street
Lee County continues work to widen existing Bonita Beach Road from four to six lanes from Old 41 to Lime Street. This project, jointly funded by Lee County Department of Transportation and the City of Bonita Springs, completes the six-laning of Bonita Beach Road from Old 41 to I-75 and adds a bike lane and sidewalk in each direction. Bicycle and pedestrian access will shift from the south side of Bonita Beach Road to the north side this week and will remain on the north side over the next several months. Drainage and utility work continues along the project.
Crews will be paving during the overnight/nighttime hours on Sunday, Dec. 4 through Wednesday, Dec. 7 in preparation for this week’s traffic shift to the north. Crews will also be paving at Arroyal Road for the turn lane improvements. This work may require partial turn lane closures (daytime and nighttime) and lane closures (nighttime) from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., WEATHER PERMITTING.
During the nighttime/overnight hours on Tuesday, December 6 crews will shift westbound Bonita Beach Road lanes to the north and during the nighttime/overnight hours on Wednesday, December 7, shift the eastbound Bonita Beach Road lanes to the north. This shift is necessary for crews to work on the south side of Bonita Beach Road for the next several months.

Underground utility work will be a large part of this project. The decorative street lighting remains along the roadway and median landscaping will be installed. Please use caution when traveling in the work zone. The project is scheduled to be complete in early 2013. The contractor is APAC Southeast, Inc. Daniels Parkway Six Laning – Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard
Lee County is widening Daniels Parkway from four to six lanes from Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard. This project includes reconstructing the Daniels Parkway and Chamberlin Parkway intersection to create a four way signalized intersection. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway. Crews are working in the Daniels Parkway median between Chamberlin Parkway and Gateway Boulevard and in the turn lanes for the new Boston Red Sox Stadium.
Westbound traffic is shifted toward the median for crews to work on the outside lanes. Turn lanes will be maintained where possible. Through Spring 2012, Chana Court will be closed at Daniels Parkway for crews to install signals and construct the north side of the Chamberlin Parkway intersection. Local traffic will be permitted access to Chana Court from Treeline Avenue.
The majority of the widening along Daniels Parkway will take place within the median along with some minor shoulder widening and turn lane construction occurring along the outside lanes. Landscaping within the median will be installed as part of the project. In addition, this project will mill and resurface Daniels Parkway from Treeline Avenue to Fuel Farm Road. The roadway work is expected to be complete in February 2012. The contractor is Better Roads, Inc. Cape Coral Toll Plaza Demolition/Reconstruction
Demolition and reconstruction at the toll plaza continues. The four westbound lanes are shifted to the south (lanes 1 through 4 are shifted to lanes 5 through 8).

Effective immediately, “oversized load” trucks are NOT permitted through the travel lanes of Cape Coral Toll plaza (in either direction). This includes oversized load trucks with State permits. Oversized load truckers should use the Midpoint or north bridges for access to Fort Myers while the toll plaza is under construction. Colonial Blvd (CR 884) Six Laning from I-75 to State Road 82 (approximately 2.7 miles in length)
Construction activities began on Monday, August 10, 2009. Proposed work consists of widening an existing four-lane highway facility, to a six-lane urbanized divided highway. This will include the installation of street lighting, signalization, bridge widening and utility modifications. Two 8-foot wide asphalt multi-use sidewalks along the north and south sides of the road will be added. The tentative completion date is December, 2011. Matlacha Bridge
The replacement of the Matlacha Bridge began October 11, 2010. Traffic will remain on the existing bridge with reduced lane widths; the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained during daylight hours. The project will take approximately two years. Additional information is available on the project website at matlachabridge.info. The Matlacha Bridge will periodically be reduced to one lane of traffic. Motorists should expect delays. Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of workers and equipment on the roadway.

Six Mile Cypress Parkway Four Laning Daniels Parkway to south of Winkler Road
Motorists should expect traffic shifts throughout the project. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway. This project will widen the two-lane section of Six Mile Cypress to a four-lane divided highway. This work will include the installation of a signalized intersection at Penzance Boulevard and the addition of a paved path along the west side of the roadway from Heritage Palms to Daniels Parkway. Big Hickory Pass #120026 and Little Carlos Pass # 120055, on Bonita Beach Road – Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the concrete repairs and overlay project for the Big Hickory and Little Carlos Bridges. The job is scheduled to start November 7th, 2011 and finish early 2012, weather permitting. There will be single lane closures from7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Veterans Memorial Parkway & Country Club
Installation of underground conduits will begin on Monday November 28th three hundred feet east of Country Club on the north side of Veterans Memorial Parkway. Crews will be progressing towards the north east corner of Veterans and Country Club. The completion date is scheduled for Thursday December 1. III. Landscaping
US 41 Landscaping Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the installation of irrigation and landscaping along US 41, between Littleton Road and the Charlotte County Line.
