Edison Science & Engineering and Inventor Fairs moves to FGCU
The 55th annual Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science & Engineering Fair and Inventor Fairs are moving to Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) on Saturday, January 14! The event showcases nearly 800 student finalists from elementary, middle and high schools who will compete for the chance to advance to the state competition, prizes and over $480,000 scholarships to local universities and colleges. Projects range from astronomy and engineering to chemistry and botany. FGCU and Florida Power and Light have been long-time supporters of Day of Discovery and the Fairs and this year promises to be special.
This Saturday from 10 a.m 4 p.m., the Edison Festival of Light also hosts Discovery Village which features games, presentations, educational exhibits and vehicles presented by a variety of state and local organizations and it is free to the public. Exhibits include FPL’s latest field vehicle, Turtle Time, Edison Inventors Assoc., Edison Ford Winter Estates, Imaginarium, Southwest Museum of History, C’MON Museum, Mound House, Just Drive, Calusa Nature Center, Turtle Time, Astronomical Society, Lee County Elections, Family News, News-Press, B & I Construction bounce house, Fort Myers Miracle and many others. In addition, attendees can tour the FGCU campus to see all of the new developments! Discover the ED-venture in everyone!! THE EVENT IS FREE TO THE PUBLIC!
