Free concert at Bethany Lutheran Church
A free concert by the Branches Band, a Milwaukee-based Christian band, will be presented Friday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m., by Bethany Lutheran Church.
Refreshments will follow, said Pastor Benjamin Zak, a chance to have his new congregation mingle, after the performance.
Zak is relatively new to the area.
“I started (as pastor) in the end of June, and am just getting to know more people, getting to know the community better.”
This isn’t his first community event – but something he hopes will be small and warm.
“This is somewhere where people can come and hear good news with good music. They (the Branches Band) are gifted musicians.”
He said he knows some of the band members.
“I’m friends with some of them, and when they heard I had a calling here, at a church in North Fort Myers, they said they would be in the area, and basically offered to present a free concert.”
Zak has seen them perform. and said what is special is “basically the content of music they are playing and vocal quality.” It is more of a singer-songwriter-style, folk music material.
Of his church, he said, “We’re really trying to reach young families and help people to get the spiritual area of their lives in order.
Bethany Lutheran Church is at 264 Evergreen Road, North Fort Myers.
