Hope Chest to hold event for Brides-to-Be
Hope Chest, the Hope Hospice Resale Store located in North Fort Myers, will host a special sale of wedding gowns on Sunday, Jan. 15.
Hope Chest is normally closed on Sundays but will be open on this date exclusively for this event.
They are the secondary outlet for the annual fundraiser Love That Dress , said Hope Chest Store Manger Jane Davis. “These are beautiful gowns, but this year is special. I have about 100 beautiful wedding gowns, some that have not been worn, some gently used.”
The gowns were originally donated to the Love That Dress event held by the Lee County PACE Center for Girls.
Through a joint partnership between the PACE Center for Girls and Hope PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), these 100 gowns are available at a fraction of their original prices, officials said.
The two organizations are unaffiliated although they have much in common, as they both focus on adding quality to the lives of others, said Community Relations Director at Hope Hospice and Community Services John Strickling.
While the PACE Center supports young women, Hope PACE helps people 55 and older to live in good health, safely and independently.
“Along with the wedding gowns, we have a selection of Mother of the Bride and evening wear as well.” More than 100 new and gently used gowns, from the simple to the extravagant, ranging in size from 4 to 26, will be available for purchase.
“All proceeds from this special event as well as all proceeds from Hope Chest sales go directly to help Hope Hospice. We appreciate the support that the community has given us throughout the past year through shopping at and donating to Hope Chest”.
This event really benefits the community, as all proceeds go to the care of our hospice patients and their families. Proceeds from all Hope Chest sales are used to help others in this way, said Samira K. Beckwith, President and CEO, Hope HealthCare Services.
Along with the traditional white and ivory, there are some colorful gowns to be sold. One has a “hoodie” – an attached headdress, and the other is a lavender dress with a 5′ train.
Along with daily specials, the store accepts donations every day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Davis noted.
