Car Crash into Hallmark Store Sends Three to Hospital

On Thursday, February 09, 2012, at 12:46 p.m. the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Merchant’s Crossing Shopping Center in North Fort Myers to investigate a report of a vehicle crashing into the building. Deputies arrived and discovered a vehicle had crashed through the front window of the Hallmark Store then traveled through the store and a wall adjoining a former hair salon before coming to a stop.

The investigation revealed George Yurcevich (DOB 9/13/43) of 2303 Pope Street Greensburg, PA was driving his 2008 Ford Mustang northbound on the roadway in front of the Hallmark store. His wife, Kathleen Yurcevich (DOB: 2/20/43) was a passenger. The driver suffered a medical event which caused him to crash into the building. Two women in the store were injured. Nancy Mason (5/4/37) of 3408 Celestial Way, North Fort Myers, was a clerk in the store and she suffered a large laceration to her head and possible back injuries. Marie Contrastano (DOB 2/26/28) 571 Sunrise Lane, North Fort Myers, was a customer in the store. She suffered a laceration to her hand. The driver was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Both women were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital to be treated for their non life-threatening injuries. The passenger was not injured.
