Chaplain Dr. David N. Smeltz, Vietnam Veterans of America, State of Virginia has been a missionary to Eastern Europe, Asia and more.

“He’s a decorated Vietnam Veteran and he is a chaplain of Vietnam Veterans for the state of Virginia,” said local Victory Baptist Church Pastor John Matey.

“He’s been speaking all over the world,” Matey said. “He has a ministry of studying Islam, and written two books on Islam. He travels in Muslim countries to get firsthand information.”

“The Vietnam veteran is the most unappreciative soldier who has served in the Armed Forces,” Smeltz said, of why this special service is so important. “History has already revealed it to be the most unpopular war in American history.”

The words “Welcome Home” originated with the Vietnam vet when they met one of there fellow comrades, he said. “The phrase ‘Never again will we leave one behind’ became the motto of the soldier and originated with the Vietnam Veteran. Come and join me in this great celebration to our veterans.”
