Local paranormal investigative group celebrates 200th Internet broadcast
With a team that comes from North Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero and even Naples, a group of paranormal investigators recently celebrated its 200th episode of broadcasting live on the Internet, with guests and fans tuning in.
The Florida Paranormal Research Group Inc. is a member of the White Noise Paranormal Network. Their high-tech Internet show is broadcast every Saturday night and viewing and participating in chat rooms are encouraged.
They celebrated their 200th episode on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17.
Hosts included North Fort Myers resident Ian Hickin, who the original organizer of the group, and Public Information Officer and Cape Coral resident Bob Kelly.
“I started Florida Paranormal Research Group Inc. in 2005,” said Hickin. “A few years later we realized we needed to get more people together, to bring more teams together. I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to have a network of teams?”
They started broadcasting every Saturday night without missing one, and building a loyal fan base, and have now reached that 200th show milestone.
It is a high-tech, interactive Internet show, broadcast with multiple screen action. You can tune into it Saturdays on the Internet at ghostshow.net, and go there for more information, or also to thewhitenoiseforum.com.
“It was an excellent show,” said Kelly. “We couldn’t have asked for a better show. Many members of the group were there, and we showed vintage videos of the paranormal investigations through the years.
“We’ve been doing the show for four years,” he said. “Our scheduled plan was to have guest hosts every hour, and a special Celebrity Roast of Ian, and there was also a surprise bit of roasting of me. It was a fun show.”
Besides being the show-co host, Kelly is also a lead investigator for the group. Other key members include Bobbi Bradshaw and Jeff Miller.
It wasn’t just the local ghost hunters on the show.
“The South East Paranormal Investigators from Miami were also represented,” Kelly said
Their show has delved into other-worldly cases from all over. St. Augustine is one area frequently featured.
“That is one of the most haunted cities in Florida, and also one of the most haunted cities, period.”
Locally, out of numerous paranormal investigations, they have done several features on Bookelia’s most haunted hot spot, in their opinion, covered extensively by local TV stations and the North Fort Myers Neighbor.
The site is the Pine Island/Bokeelia landmark restaurant Capt’n Con’s Fish House, which has been reported for years as being haunted.
Why are they involved in the pursuit of the paranormal? All of the core investigators have been involved in some type of paranormal experience, both men said.
“Our motto for the show is, ‘Where you become part of the investigation,'” Hickin said.
