North Fort Myers Honorary Mayor Al Giacalone of Sun Country Real Estate received a special honor this week from the Lee County Board of County Commissioners.

He was joined by North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Chris Jackson and president Dick Collins. BOCC members honoring Giacalone included Commissioner Tammy Hall, a North Fort Myers resident.

“It was an honor to receive this resolution from the county commissioners,” said Giacalone. “It brings attention to the important role the NFM Chamber of Commerce is to this community. I am having a blast representing the Chamber as the 2012 Honorary Mayor, speaking at a town hall meeting, attending the Business After Hours functions and, on March 24, I will be making a special announcement at the Wiener Dog Derby.”

The Honorary Mayor is a fund-raising event for the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. In dapper dress, at his local “crowning” earlier this year, Giacalone was accompanied by son AJ.

“… Today’s event continues to symbolize the continued growth and upbeat momentum of the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce,” Jackson said.

“The Chamber truly is a strong, unified voice of our spirited business community and has become recognized as a valuable source of business support and advocacy. And with a 30-year history, it is universally respected throughout the region.”
