Old Bridge Village holds 50-plus Anniversary Party
The Social Alliance of Old Bridge Village hosted a luncheon recently for 54 couples who have been married 50 or more years.
The clubhouse was decorated beautifully, in gold and white, by wonderful volunteers to celebrate the 50-plus anniversaries. Lainey Carroll made the place cards. Each couple was escorted to their respective tables by ushers, Jack Earnshaw, Dick Trudell and Bob Dellisola.
A welcome speech was given be Dorothy Dellisola, chairman of the Community Service for Old Bridge Village, followed by the blessing given by Rosie Lenz, who has lived at Old Bridge for 38 years.
An appetizer table was provided by Jytte Brown Ann Routly. This was followed by a delicious chicken dinner cooked by Dick and Jayne Gray.
After dinner Ted Bedard played The Anniversary Waltz and many couples were on the dance floor. The wedding cakes were cut by our oldest (72 years) and newest (50 years) married couples – Harry and Mabel Kinghorn and Don and Judy Lippy.
Prizes were then given to the longest married couple, Harry and Mabel Kinghorn, who have been married 72 years. Having won this prize twice, the couple requested the prize be passed to the next longest married couple – Bob and Donna Halleran and Bert and June Arens. Both couples have been married 66 years.
Other prizes were: Newest 50-plus couple – Don and Judy Lippy; Most Great grandchildren – Herb and Pat Ramm (17) ; Lived longest in Old Bridge – Van and Phyllis Smith (34 years); and the couple celebrating their anniversary on Feb. 26 (58 years).
The last prize was a picture contest. Couples provided wedding pictures, which were numbered and they had to identify as many as possible. Barbara Hoover won the prize by identifying 19 of the 25 pictures.
The final part of the festivities was a sing-a-long of songs from the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s with music played by Ted Bedard.
Dorothy Dellisola wishes to thank all of the rest of the volunteers who gave their time, energy and talents to make this event such a success and a celebration of love and friendship. The following ladies helped decorate and serve: Anita Brooks, Mary Ann Earnshaw, Barbara Gilkerson, Phyllis Hall, Sandy Knipe, Bev MacDougall, Margaret Potts, Barbara Solomon, Kay Trudell and Judy Wilmouth,
