Popular free gardening classes back at Bayshore Garden Center
The staff at Bayshore Garden Center has scheduled more free classes in their popular free gardening series.
“We will also raffle off one free prize per class,” said owner Terry Chepy.
A free Container Gardening class will be held Saturday, March 17, followed by Butterfly Gardening scheduled for March 24 and Gardening with Natives March 31.
Each class runs from 9 to 10 a.m.
“People really look forward to this,” said Bayshore Gardens owner Terry Chepy. “It’s always a big success, people like to come out and learn what they don’t know about gardening. Danielle Newell will be leading the first class.”
A local expert on container gardening, she has a passion for the craft.
The goal is to put attractive pots together, with pots available for purchase at the class.
The butterfly gardening class will cover a range of topics including plant selection, (host and nectar varieties) types of butterflies and their life cycle from egg to adult.
Instructor Kathy Hall is a local expert on the subject and her easy style has helped transform a number of gardeners into butterfly enthusiasts, officials said.
The gardening with natives class will offer information on the utilization of natives in the landscape and the environmental benefits that result from their use.
Natives are adaptable to local weather extremes and require less water, fertilizer and pesticides to thrive. Harry Griffin will offer information on identification of native species and the best ways to incorporate them into a landscape design.
Registration is requested.
