A North Fort Myers man was seriously injured early Friday morning in a motorcycle accident on Hancock Bridge Parkway just west of Palm Avenue.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Joshua Gary Johnson, 26, was riding his 2005 Suzuki GSXR west on Hancock Bridge Parkway at 2:10 a.m. when he traveled off the roadway into the median where the front of the motorcycle struck a guard rail. The motorcycle continued to travel west back into the roadway where it fell onto its left side, ejecting Johson, with both sliding to a stop in a westbound lane.

The report indicates the driver had a helmet on his motorcycle but was not wearing it at the time of the crash.

Johnson was transported in critical condition to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.
