Arrest made in North Fort Myers shooting

A arrest has been made in a North Fort Myers shooting that took place Thursday morning in a home on Ebson Drive.

Dallas Wooten, 21, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, use firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and cocaine possession.

The shooting victim, identified as Felix Halveston, 41, of 8017 Ebson Drive, was in stable condition Friday morning.

Deputies answering a shooting call to 7851 Ebson Drive at 7:45 a.m. found Halveston suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital and the Lee County Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.

Deputies obtained a description of the shooter and searched the area. Approximately an hour later, deputies received a call of a “suspicious person running through a gated community nearby that matched the description of the suspect,” officials said in a release issued Friday.

Deputies located and detained Wooten.

“He was positively identified by the witness and taken into custody,” the release states adding, deputies located 2.6 grams of cocaine on Wooten as well.
