Many pre-Easter options for kids

3 min read

Children and families who like to start their Easter holiday with an egg hunt will have some options in North Fort Myers this year.

This year’s egg hunt at the North Community Park will have a twist – due to its past popularity, participants will need to preregister this year to take part.

The North Fort Myers Community Park has its hunt scheduled for 9 a.m. this Saturday behind the rec center at the Rotary Plaza. The event for children from ages newborn to 10 will feature plastic eggs filled with candy and prizes and the Easter Bunny, and face painting.

“We’re going to set up three different areas with hay and candy-filled eggs. We’re going to make it more cozy,” said Tiffany Vance, event organizer. “This is a large enough space to accommodate everyone. It’s easier to keep it more controlled and it will look nicer.”

The cost is $5 to participate, and you must preregister by Friday. There is a cap of 125 participants. Last year there were 300 children, with parents doubling that total.

“We need to know how many kids are going to be here so we know how many eggs to fill. We’re doing this like all the other centers, with a cap,” Vance said.

The rec center is at 2000 North Recreation Way behind the North Fort Myers Library off Old 41.

On the day before Easter, there will be a free egg hunt for children age 1 through 13 at the Suncoast Community Center at 2241 Case Lane from 10 a.m. to noon.

The event will feature a bounce house and face painting. There will also be special eggs the kids can collect and redeem for a prize such as a small basket, according to event organizer Jennifer Youngs, who said the event has been an off-and-on thing.

“We want to give to as many kids as possible. Everyone who participates gets a bag of candy,” Youngs said. “We want everyone to have a blessed Easter.”

Space is limited and all participants must pre-register before Monday, March 21.

The event is sponsored by the Suncoast Neighborhood Task Force, the Stoney Brooke Women’s Club, Water’s Edge Church, YSAL, Suncoast Trucking Academy and Goodwill SWFL.

On Easter morning, the North Shore Alliance Church will hold a hunt just before its Sunday service for all kids from fifth grade and below starting at 10 a.m.

Kids will be divided up by age group for a fun, safe hunting experience. This event will be just one more Easter event for the church, which will also hold its annual Passion Experience on Saturday.

North Shore Alliance Church is at 330 W Mariana Ave

Also on Sunday, the Shell Factory will hold an Easter Egg hunt in the Nature Park from 10 a.m. to noon, featuring a photo-op with the Easter Bunny. The Family Easter Celebration is free for Children 12 and younger.

The hunt will kick off a day of special Easter events at the Shell Factory, including a special Fun Park Family Package.

The Shell Factory and Nature Park is at 2787 N Tamiami Trail
