The Shell Factory is geared up to again present its Family FriendlyHalloween Bash.

More than 1,000 children are expected to show up for the second-annual event set to begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 30, right in time to give the kids a little Halloween before Halloween.

Rick Tupper, marketing director and CFO of the Shell Factory, said this is another example of starting something small and have it be a hit beyond their imaginations.

“Last year was much bigger than we thought. I’m thinking that this year could really be big,” Tupper said. “It’s a great, safe way for parents to bring their kids and see some of the new stuff we have.”

The day starts with a free trick or treat walk through the Nature Park from 10 a.m. to noon. The kids will go to 13 stations where they can get safe, free candy while getting to see the animals.

When that’s over, it’s time to head over to the Dolphin room for a free Halloween costume contest for children 12 and under from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. There will be live music during that time as well as entertainment on the swamp patio until 7 p.m.

Anyone in costume will receive a free snow cone and a free round of mini golf.

There will also be a special Family Fun Park package and 2-for-1 admission to the Nature Park after 1 p.m. available, where visitors can see the new toucan, fishing cat and sloth.

“If they come into the nature park the first time to trick or treat and like it, they will be able to get back in on a 2-for-1 basis,” said Rick Tupper, marketing director and CFO of the Shell Factory.

There will be food available to everyone and the retail store will feature 20 percent off all items in the expanded Halloween Shop.

“This isn’t just going out on the street and trick-or-treating. This is an event. You can come for the day with your family,” Tupper said.

There will also be a great opportunity for the kids to enjoy the brand-new reception area at the Nature Park, and the arcade has been revamped with more than $400,000 of new machines.
