Reimagined Player’s Circle set to reopen

The Player’s Circle Theater was hit as hard as any organization during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite that, it was able to survive.
Starting Friday, a reimagined theater is going to reopen, as a nightclub, with the hopes of returning to its theatrical roots by early next year.
Several acts will perform from now until the end of the year from the world of comedy, dance, and song, with a full-fledged production slated for January, pandemic permitting.
People were able to take a tour of the new theater, which will feature a luxurious lobby where people can eat, drink and be merry, and a more socially distanced theater, where the capacity will be reduced by more than half.
“The governor said we can pack them in, but I want to make sure everyone feels safe,” said Robert Cacioppo, artistic director and co-founder with his wife, Carrie Lund Cacioppo.
Comedian R.C. Smith will appear for a show Friday at 7 p.m. and for two shows on Saturday at 6 and 8:30 p.m. Capacity, which was around 190 before the pandemic hit, will be reduced to 78.
VIP seating is $25, with general admission $15.
Halloween weekend will feature Danny Sinoff, a jazz pianist and singer who can be best compared to Harry Connick Jr. He will perform Friday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m. and for two shows on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 6 and 8:30 p.m.
Also coming down the pike will be a multimedia show called “Seeger,” which features the life, times and music of Pete Seeger as performed by Randy Noojin.
Those will be from Nov. 11 to 15. The shows in Nov. 11 and 12 start at 7 p.m., those on Nov. 13 and 14 will start at 8 p.m., and the Nov. 15 show will be a rare matinee at 2. VIP table seating is $50, while general admission is $35.
After a Flamenco dancing show on Nov. 20, comedian Carmen Ciricillo will perform Thanksgiving weekend, on Friday, Nov. 27, at 8 p.m. and Saturday for two shows at 6 and 8:30 p.m.
In December, LuLu Roman from the classic TV show “Hee-Haw” will be at the theater from Dec. 16 to 20.
The first show will be a fundraiser for the theater starting at 6 p.m., with tickets $500 per person. The remaining shows will be $50 for VIP seating and $35 general admission.
If all goes according to plan, the first production is expected to be “The Lifespan of a Fact,” a recent Broadway comedy making its Florida debut. That will happen from Jan. 13 to 30, 2021.
