Saturday, Oct. 9, 2022, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer installed its first Blue Roof in Fort Myers Florida. Operation Blue Roof is a priority mission managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for FEMA. The goal of the Blue Roof program is to provide homeowners in disaster areas with fiber-reinforced, industrial-strength sheeting to protect storm-damaged roofs until homeowners can make permanent repairs. This program is a NO COST service for homeowners. Operation Blue Roof is designed to protect property, reduces temporary housing costs, and allows residents to remain in their homes while recovering from the storm.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Operation Blue Roof program is in full production, installing about 800 blue roofs per day, providing homeowners impacted by Hurricane Ian a temporary solution that protects their property, and allowing them to remain in their home as they continue to recover.

The Operation Blue Roof program is a free service for homeowners, and the deadline to apply is Oct. 23.

A resident begins by submitting a Right of Entry (ROE) request through the blueroof.us website, calling 888-ROOF-BLU (888-766-3258), or visiting one of the many sign-up locations located throughout the approved counties. A list of current sign-up locations can be found on the Blue Roof website.
