Since the North Fort Myers Recreation Center opened in 2013, one of the most anticipated events of the year is the annual Breakfast with Santa.

Well, after two years of COVID and limited attendance, sharing a morning meal with the jolly old man should return to normal on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Jamie Worley, who is organizing the event, said the event will feature kids going to different stations to eat, play games, write a letter to Santa that will go straight to the North Pole, and get a picture with him.

Of course, Santa will have breakfast with the kids, see what they have on their Christmas list, make sure they have been nice and not naughty and take photos with the kids.

“It will be more of a selfie format where the scene is set up with St. Nick already there and people will be able to get pictures taken with him,” Worley said. “We hope everyone comes out and gets in the holiday spirit.”

The kids will also enjoy making a holiday craft and playing reindeer games.

This year’s holiday craft will be magic reindeer food, Worley said, with much of it actually edible, at least for pets.

“It’s going to be dry oats, edible glitter and a bird seed mix. They’ll use a scoop of each, shake it up and recite a magic poem that tells them what to do with it,” Worley said, who is running the event for the first time. “It will attract Santa’s reindeer to their yard.”

The reindeer games with include pinning the nose on Rudolph, a snowman toss and several other games, Worley said.

Organizations, including the Tre Boston Beyond Belief Foundation, are expected to come volunteer.

The cost is $3 per plate. Worley said they expect between 150 and 200 people and that Hurricane Ian probably won’t impact things much, if at all.

“We are still able t0 secure what we needed to make the event successful. I don’t think the hurricane will impact it at all,” Worley said. “We were very fortunate.”
