Lee County announces adjusted hours at Hurricane Ian debris public drop-off sites due to time change
Due to the end of Daylight Saving Time, hours at Hurricane Ian debris public drop-off sites will be adjusted beginning Sunday, Nov. 6. Sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
The sites are:
• Shell Factory, 2805 N. Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers
• Brooks Park, 50 South Road, Fort Myers
• San Carlos Utility Site, 18078 Cypress Point Road, Fort Myers
• Mosquito Control, 1840 Gunnery Road, Lehigh Acres
Residents who have the ability and desire to self-haul Hurricane Ian debris can use the public drop-off sites for both vegetative and structural debris. Only storm debris will be accepted you must be prepared to unload your trucks yourself. These sites are limited to light-duty trucks and small trailers that are 5 cubic yards or less. No self-loading equipment is permitted.
Debris-hauling crews continue collections daily throughout Lee County. The contractor, CrowderGulf, estimates that the first pass to remove hurricane debris in unincorporated Lee County will be completed within the next 30 days.
Each neighborhood will receive at minimum a second pass for debris removal. Additional passes will be conducted as warranted, particularly in those neighborhoods that experienced both wind damage and severe flooding.
