The north and south lanes of U.S. 41 near the Caloosahatchee Bridge in Fort Myers have re-opened following emergency road repairs.

An emergency road closure was put into place Tuesday afternoon as a precaution for crews to review potential impacts to the corridor, Florida Department of Transportation officials said in a release issued today.

“While no repairs were necessary to the bridge itself and it is safe for travel, repairs were done to replace fill material to the approach slab (the part of the roadway that is the transition point to the bridge) where a minor washout occurred,” the release states. “Repairs are now complete and now open to traffic.”

The Department will continue to monitor the area. For up-to-date travel conditions, visit FL511.com.
