1. Road Work/Maintenance/Improvement
Summerlin Road & Bass Road ROW 2023-00219: BCU & PMI Will be installing storm drains and pipes, sidewalks, and riprap on swell slope. Work will begin on March 15, 2023 through May 31, 2023. This work will be on the north side of Summerlin just west of Bass Rd. There will be no lane closures needed. All work will be done in the green area of the ROW. Traffic flow shall remain normal. Overhead Sign Panel Replacement – A contractor for LCDOT Traffic, Horsepower Electric Inc. will be replacing overhead signage beginning the night of March 8, 2023. Motorist should expect lane closures. This project is ongoing & expected to be completed by May 8, 2023.
Thursday, April 20, 2023, thru April 26, 2023:
· On Veterans Parkway just east of the Mid Point Toll Facility at 1 overhead sign location for west bound traffic.
· On McGregor Boulevard at 1 overhead location just west of Shell Point Boulevard
· On Summerlin Road at 2 overhead locations for north bound between Cypress Lake Drive & College Parkway.

US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Construction project: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing medians on US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82.
· Expect Edison Avenue closed on the east side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.
· Expect Crawford Street closed on the east side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.
· Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project.
· Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project.
Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have most of the construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion is late 2023.
Burnt Store Road from Tropicana Parkway to Pine Island Road: Motorists should expect temporary southbound traffic diversions from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This project consists of widening Burnt Store Road to four lanes. The project also includes construction of a new bridge over Shadroe Canal, drainage installation, and lighting. Motorists should expect intermittent Northbound and Southbound Lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution while driving in the area. This south segment from Tropicana Parkway to Pine Island Road costs $13.6 million. The contractor is Wright Construction. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2023. Crystal Drive (Plantation Road to US 41) Water Main Improvements (ROW 2022-00020): Beginning April 4, 2022, contractors for Lee County will install new water main beginning on the west side of Planation Road just south of the roundabout with Crystal Drive. Then install the water main on the south side of Crystal Drive from Plantation Road to US 41 to tie into a connection point on the east side of US 41 just south of Crystal Drive. Crews will also install water main from a connection point on the east side of US 41 near 12499 Cleveland Avenue (PDQ). Then continue east to Austin Street and west under US 41 to the north side of Brantley Road and tie into a connection point between Pine Grove and Brantley Pines driveways. Crews are expected to work 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2023. Drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution and be aware of construction equipment and vehicles entering/exiting streets in the project area.

Corkscrew Road Widening Project – Phase I Construction Project: The project widens Corkscrew Road to six lanes from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Fire House Lane, and to four lanes from Fire House Lane to Bella Terra Boulevard. The project includes adding on-road bike lanes, some sidewalk, installing new drainage, and constructing a wildlife crossing approximately 1000 feet west of the entrance to Cypress Shadows Boulevard. This crossing will coincide with a regional flow-way that crosses Corkscrew Road at that location. The Village of Estero will be installing shared use paths, lighting, and landscaping as phasing allows. Drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone. Please be aware of shifts in travel lanes and bike lanes, sidewalk detours, miscellaneous turn lane closures, and uneven pavement throughout the project.
Please use caution and drive with courtesy and patience throughout the project area. Residents are entering and exiting communities on both sides of Corkscrew Road.
FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY, PLEASE STAY OUT OF THE ACTIVE WORK ZONE.
· On Tuesday, April 25, 2023 and Wednesday, April 26, 2023, motorists should expect westbound Corkscrew Road between Ben Hill Griffin Parkway and Wildcat Run to be reduced to one lane for crews to mill the asphalt. Paving of this area is scheduled for early May.
· The contractor continues work outside of the travel lanes. This work includes installing drainage, performing concrete work and earthwork, clearing & grubbing, and prepping for sod. Motorists should expect construction vehicles and concrete trucks entering and exiting the roadway.
· Crews continue work on the box culvert near the wildlife crossing. This week the bridge crews will begin driving two test piles for the north side of the wildlife crossing/bridge. This work will of be outside of the travel lanes.
· Pedestrians should expect the sidewalk on the south side of the road closed from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Stoneybrook Golf Drive while the Village of Estero constructs the shared use path.
· Left turn lanes from Corkscrew Road are unavailable into Wild Blue Boulevard, Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew), Midnight Blue Boulevard, and Bella Terra Boulevard. Left turns are still permitted, however they will be made from the travel lane. Where possible, barrels and other devices have been shifted to allow for as much room as possible for vehicles.
The work activities above are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule.
WORK PERFORMED BY OTHERS:
· GL Homes is actively working in their development site across from Wild Blue Boulevard. Motorists should expect delays and use caution as construction vehicles enter/exit the roadway. On heavy haul days, GL Homes will be providing flaggers to reduce backups on Corkscrew Road.
· The Village of Estero is constructing the shared use path on the south side of the road from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Stoneybrook Golf Drive. The Village is currently designing the path to extend to the east property line of Bella Terra and on the north side of the road to east of Grandezza.
MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated completion is late 2023. Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: As a part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Emergency Restoration of the Sanibel Causeway, crews continue work on McGregor Boulevard and the Sanibel Causeway from Port Comfort Road to Sanibel Island. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access.
· During the overnight/nighttime hours of 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, on Monday, April 24, 2023 and Tuesday, April 25, 2023, motorists should expect lane closures on the causeway for crews to survey the bridges.
· Crews continue driving sheet pile around the causeway islands.
· Crews continue earthwork on the causeway islands.
· Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway.
· Pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway.
Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Summerlin Road from Bass Road to John Morris Rd (ROW2022-00185): Andrew Sitework LLC will be performing sidewalk replacement, landscaping, Grading and sodding, and irrigation improvements along Summerlin Road from Just east of Bass Road going West to John Morris Road. The restoration efforts are part of a new underground utility improvements project for Lee County.
· Ongoing through February 28, 2023, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The projected end date is April 28, 2023.
Temporary traffic Control devices will be utilized for pedestrian safety as well as that of the contractor’s workforce. Please use caution when traveling through the project. Bonita Beach Road SW @ Imperial Shores – Bonita Springs (ROW 2022-00816): Andrew Sitework LLC will be performing construction on Imperial Shores Blvd starting July 26, 2022, from Bonita Beach Road to Tarpon Avenue. Work will consist of new water main on the west side of Imperial Shores followed by new drainage pipe & structures, sidewalks, curb & gutter, roadway rebuilding on the east side of Imperial Shores. The detour and one-way road on Imperial Shores Blvd. that was in place prior to hurricane Ian will be re-implemented within the next 2 weeks to allow construction to resume. Motorists wishing to access NB Imperial Shores should follow the detour to Imperial River N, to Tarpon Ave. W and travel South on Imperial Shores Blvd. It is estimated that this detour will remain in place until the end of December 2022 until the new underground drainage is installed up to Pine Lake Rd. At that point, work will be performed using “One Lane Road” operations in shorter sections as crews work their way north. Flaggers will be on the roadway directing traffic and motorist are

Asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalk, concrete curbing, and drainage improvements will be performed. The outside (right) lane of Eastbound traffic on Bonita Beach Road SW between Meadowlark Lane and Windsor Road will be subject to lane closures. Periodic lane closures for eastbound lanes will occur between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM on weekdays. Durrance Road between Nalle Grade Road and Sedgefield Road – RPU will be installing a Raw Water Main and Fiber Optics Conduit via directional drill from March 6, 2022 through May 5, 2022. Directional Drill will be performed along Durrance Road from Deal Road to the North Lee County Water Treatment Plant. Northbound lane will be subject to temporary daily lane closures. Southbound lane will be open at all times. Traffic will be maintained with flagmen. Working hours shall be from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. IMPERIAL SHORES Boulevard – Bonita Springs FL – ROW2022-00816
· Starting on January 9, 2023, and continuing through the end of February 2023, Imperial Shores Boulevard will be closed between Gary Road and Pine Lake Road while crews install two (2) large drainage structures with pipe crossing the road and install drainage pipe up too Little Hickory Drive. A detour will be in place with ample signs routing traffic around the work area. Imperial Shores will be open to two-way traffic from Bonita Beach Road to Gary Road and from Pine Lake Road to Tarpon Avenue.
· At the end of February 2023, crews with then open the roadway to two-way traffic while they install drainage pipe and make improvements from Gary Road south to near Bonita Beach Road. This work will be performed under a One Lane Road Operation. Flaggers will be in place directing traffic around the work area on the east side of Imperial Shores. This is anticipated to be completed by the end of March 2023.
· Starting on April 2023 and continuing through May of 2023, crews will resume construction from Little Hickory working their way north to Esplanade Drive. It will be necessary to close the roadway in small sections and detour traffic around the work area. Ample signs will be in place to safely guide traffic around the work area. The roadway north and south of the work area will be open to two-way traffic.
· Starting in June through July of 2023, crews will complete the work from Esplanade to Tarpon Ave under a One Lane Road operation.
· Final Construction is scheduled for the end of July with milling and resurfacing of the roadway, new signs and new pavement markings.

Removal of and repair of damaged concrete sidewalk will be performed under county contract B220294DWJ on both the north and south sides of Bonita Beach Road West of US 41 to Kings Kew Road in Bonita Springs as directed by Lee County personnel . The outside (right) lane of westbound traffic on Bonita Beach Road just after US 41 will be the first area subject to lane closures utilizing FDOT indexes 102-615 & 102-613. Also, the sidewalk north of Bonita Beach Road will be closed and detoured as needed as outline in FDOT Index FDOT 102-660. 2499 Lee Boulevard at the LCEC Substation ending at 1110 Lee Boulevard just before Williams Road along with sections of sidewalk in our work zone (ROW2022-00733): One of LCEC’s contractors, Mas Tec, will be chanfing out concrete poles and reconductoring a primary double circuit feeder running down Lee Boulevard beginning Monday, April 10, 2023 and ending around May 31, 2023. We will be intermittently blocking the westbound north lane of travel between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM for approximately 5 plus weeks in various locations, along with sections of sidewalk. Sunshine Blvd and 25th St W, North to Queen Dr- Lehigh Acres, Florida (ROW2021-00683) FPL WR 9772938: Davco Electrical Contractors will be installing 6″ Inch bore pipe and feeder cable for Florida Power & Light. Work will begin on April 14, 2023 and completed by May 31, 2023. The boring will take place in the evening from 9:00 PM- 6:00 AM and once the bore in cable pulling during the daytime 9:00 AM- 3:30 PM. Sunshine Blvd From Queen Dr North to Olive Ave to the FPL Pole – Lehigh Acres, Florida (ROW2021-00961) FPL WR 9773193: Davco Electrical Contractors will be installing 6″ Inch bore pipe and feeder cable for Florida Power & Light. Work will begin on April 14, 2023 and completed by May 31, 2023. The boring will take place in the evening from 9:00PM- 6:00 AM and once the bore in cable pulling during the daytime 9:00 AM- 3:30 PM. College Parkway between Winkler Road and Southpoint Boulevard (ROW2022-01348): Essian Construction LCC will be performing sidewalk and roadway improvements from June 5, 2023, through August 7, 2023. Asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalk, concrete curbing, and drainage improvements will be performed. The right lane heading westbound on College Parkway, and possibly the middle lane, for short periods of time to tap the water service will be subject to lane closures. The lane closures will be between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM on weekdays. Back Bay Construction will be providing maintenance of traffic services. Lee County is constructing a roundabout at Gateway Boulevard and Griffin Drive. Work includes clearing vegetation on Gateway Boulevard and Griffin Drive, expect traffic shifts and lanes closures. Expect large construction vehicles in the area and watch for contractors in the field. The contractors will use Variable Message Boards (VMB) to notify the public about any traffic pattern changes during construction. The contractor is Wright Construction Group. The project is expected to be complete in one year. Work began April 17, 2023, and is estimated to be completed Spring of 2024. Oriole Road at Pennsylvania Boulevard – Fort Myers (ROW2023-00125) – Cruz Cable will be preforming directional drill in the west ROW of Oriole Road beginning May 1, 2023 and continue through May 8, 2023. Cruz Cable will be installing U/G Power lines in the ROW, due to limited space for equipment in the ROW the southbound lane of Oriole Road from Pennsylvania Boulevard to Pittsburgh Boulevard will be subject to a lane closure. The lane closures for the southbound lane would occur between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays. Lee Street from Marvin Avenue to Neil Avenue N. (Permit ROW2022-00983): On Thursday, April 27 2023, Lee Street will be closed to normal traffic and only residents and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the section from Marvin Avenue to Neil Avenue N. From 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, to set a pole using a crane. The normal flow of traffic will be detoured around the site by way of Fifth Street W, and the residents within the work zone will be guided in and out of the zone as needed. Lane Closure – Veterans Pkwy 1500 feet east of the Mid Point Toll Facility: On Tuesday, April 25, 2023 between 9:30 AM & 11:00 AM a contractor will close one westbound lane at the overhead sign structure in order to reposition traffic cameras. 2. Bridge Maintenance
Lee County will repair the bridge on Three Oaks Parkway between Rookery Drive and Estro Gardens Boulevard. Weather permitting, repairs are scheduled to start on April 10, 2023 and end on May 10, 2023. Single-lane closures on South and Northbound lanes will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. 3. Street Lighting Maintenance
Alico Road Lighting and Landscaping – Fort Myers (Lee County #9269): Bentley Lighting and P&T landscaping crews will be on site throughout the project along Alico Road from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to just east of ITEC, beginning July 26, 2022, until Saturday, June 3, 2023. Crews will be working Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Crews will be installing light poles along the north and south side the road as well as landscaping and irrigation improvements in the median. Lane closures are not anticipated at this time, but motorists should expect construction vehicles and minor traffic disruptions while construction activities are being performed. Summerlin Road Eastbound Off-Ramp to San Carlos Boulevard: Lee County DOT Traffic will be performing street lighting maintenance on the Summerlin Road Eastbound Off-Ramp to San Carlos Boulevard. Captiva Drive: Lee County DOT will be trimming trees on Captiva Drive from Blind Pass into the downtown area.
