Lee County School District cancels classes, activities for Tuesday
The Lee County School District has announced that school and all activities have been cancelled for Tuesday, Aug. 29, due to Tropical Storm Idalia.
In its announcement, the district said, “Out of an abundance of caution due to the forecast winds for our area, we have made the decision to cancel school and all activities for Tuesday, August 29th. We will provide an update about our plans for August 30th by 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.”
The district indicated it has been working closely with Lee County’s Emergency Operations Center in preparation for Tropical Storm Idalia’s potential impact to the area. The storm is currently forecast to make landfall late Tuesday or early Wednesday between Tampa Bay and the Big Bend area as a Category 3 Hurricane.
