Lee County Commissioner Cecil Pendergrass will welcome the Consul General of Canada in Miami, Sylvia Cesaratto, to Lee County on Sept. 25. The commissioner will take CG Cesaratto on a tour of areas that were severely devastated by Hurricane Ian, which made landfall in Lee County on Sept. 28, 2022.

The scheduled tour comes after Commissioner Pendergrass and CG Cesaratto’s first meeting in June at the Florida Associations of Counties (FAC) Annual Conference.

“Canada has a strong economic presence in Lee County, accounting for more than $120 million in exported goods and services and more than 1,000 jobs created by Canadian-owned businesses. I look forward to showing CG Cesaratto our community’s strong recovery, especially as we mark the one-year anniversary since Ian devastated our area,” Commissioner Pendergrass said.

The tour will take place Monday, Sept. 25, with Commissioner Pendergrass and CG Cesaratto visiting unincorporated and coastal areas throughout Lee County that experienced Ian damage.
