New traffic pattern on Santa Barbara Boulevard to begin Thursday

2 min read

Beginning Thursday, May 27, motorists can expect a new traffic pattern on Santa Barbara Boulevard between Southeast 8th Street and Southeast 12th Terrace. Southbound travel lanes on the east side of the road will be closed to traffic, reducing both northbound and southbound traffic to one lane only. In addition, the temporary closure of side streets at Southeast 10th Terrace, Southeast 11th Terrace and Southeast 12 Terrace are necessary for crews to construct the east side of Santa Barbara Boulevard.
Motorists are advised that left turns from side streets and business driveways onto Santa Barbara Boulevard will not be not permitted during this phase of construction.
Advance warning signs, electronic message boards, and barricades will be used to assist motorists traveling through the area. Construction on this section of roadway is scheduled to take place over the next three months, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
While traveling through the work zone, motorists are urged to use caution, obey the posted speed limit of 35 mph, and seek alternate routes whenever possible. Please be advised that unforeseen circumstances and weather may affect the schedule.
