CCPD, DCF investigating reported sexual assault
An investigation is under way into a possible sexual assault of a 2-year-old Cape Coral girl.
According to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies were called to HealthPark Medical Center, 9981 HealthPark Drive, in south Fort Myers, and spoke to a woman who took the girl there after the child said someone had touched her inappropriately.
The woman saw the girl touching herself and when she told her to stop the youngster said a person had touched her. That person’s name and relationship to the girl were not released. When the woman asked the girl where the person touched her, the girl “became shy and walked away,” according to the report.
A Cape Coral detective was contacted who said Florida Department of Children and Families and Cape police had already taken a report on the incident and they would be following up.
