Two people were arrested on drug charges Wednesday afternoon after police executed a search warrant at their southwest Cape Coral apartment.
Alberto Cruz, 25, and Michelle Ann Munson, 23, were taken to the Lee County Jail after the Cape Coral Police Department’s Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit served the search warrant at 3:10 p.m. at 3602 Skyline Blvd., Apt. 105. Detectives had allegedly conducted controlled drug purchases from Munson.
Upon entry to the residence, officers found Cruz in the master bedroom trying to flush Xanax pills down the toilet, according to police spokeswoman Connie Barron. The agency’s SWAT, Street Crimes and K-9 units assisted.
Cruz was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, one count of destroying tampering with or fabricating evidence and one count of possession and or use narcotic equipment.
Munson is facing one count of selling opium or derivative and one count of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Both remained in the jail Thursday afternoon, according to booking records. Cruz was denied bond and Munson is being held without bond. Both are set to go to court on Aug. 2.
