Authorities seek two suspects in credit card theft
Authorities are searching for two people who reportedly stole a 79-year-old woman’s wallet and charged more than $4,000 on her credit cards.
The Cape Coral Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify the suspects, a man and a woman. Video surveillance from the stores where the cards were used clearly showed the two suspects. The man is about 20-30 years old with dark brown hair. The woman is about 18-30 and has a slim build and long brown hair.
According to officials, the elderly woman was shopping Oct. 15 at TJ Maxx when her wallet, containing several credit cards, was stolen from her purse. Within a 30-minute period, the stolen cards were used at two Target stores in the Cape. The man and woman bought two iPads and various other items.
The victim could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
The total charges to the credit cards exceeded $4,000, police reported.
Anyone with information on the identity or location of the man or woman is asked to call the Cape Coral Police Department at 574-3223, or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at (800) 780-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 if the tip leads to an arrest.
