Small business classes prove popular
Small business workshops hosted by Edison State College and the Community Redevelopment Agency are already proving successful, even though the first class still is more than a month away.
Early projections already have classes “75 percent full”, according to Professor Tom McNulty, who will teach both workshops.
McNulty said Friday he will expand the classes to include other sessions if both workshops fill up.
“Things in the last week have really picked up,” McNulty said. “I’m excited … we’ll open more sessions if needed. No problem.”
Themed “Taking Care of Business,” McNulty said there will be two separate workshops.
One, titled “Is A Small Business Right For Me?”, will focus on people looking to start a new business. And the second, “Obtain a Competitive Advantage,” will tackle marketing, customer service and promotion for current business owners.
Each workshop will consist of seven, 90-minute sessions. Each workshop will cost $20. The price covers all seven sessions for each workshop.
The CRA also is offering to rebate the price of the workshop for up to two people, per business, within the CRA boundaries.
“It’s been well received,” said Helen Ramey, CRA economic development manager, of the business classes. “When we announced the incentive for reimbursement, interest and enrollment increased significantly.”
Jerry and Hana Whitfield, owners of PC Support Group were swift to sign up for the classes, especially with the additional incentive of tuition reimbursement.
“The CRA is fabulous for offering the incentive and we are glad that Edison State College is coming to Cape Coral” said Hana Whitfield.
John Michael Glorioso, and his sister Carol Glorioso, of John Michael Jewelry also signed up for the classes
“There is always something new to learn especially during these challenging economic times,” John Michael said.
