American Heroes Air Show lands in Lee County Saturday
If you see a couple dozen helicopters buzzing over Lee County this weekend, don’t panic. The nation’s premier helicopter-only air show will be making its Lee County debut Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Lee County Sports Complex, 14100 Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the set up and coordination of the event.
The American Heroes Air Show will highlight aviation’s role in law enforcement, public safety, search & rescue and national defense. Visitors will get a close-up look at advanced military and civilian helicopters and have a chance to meet the pilots who fly them.
The Air Show will feature flyovers, helicopter displays and interactive exhibits with hands-on activities for adults and children alike.
Also on display will be the American Veterans’ Travelling Tribute complete with a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall.
“People are fascinated by helicopters,” said Deputy Bryan Smith with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, an event organizer. “This is a chance for everyone to learn more about what these aircraft are doing to serve their community, both overhead and overseas.”
The American Heroes Air Show promises plenty of excitement that is light on the wallet.
Admission to the event, as well as parking, is free.
