Search for principal for Oasis Middle School under way

2 min read

Oasis Middle School is currently searching for a new principal to replace Chris Terrill, so he can begin focusing just on the students of Oasis High School.
City of Cape Coral Charter School Authority Administrator Dr. Lee Bush said the board recently approved the hiring of a middle school principal for the upcoming school year. He explained that for the last four years, Terrill has been the principal of Oasis Middle and for the last year and a half, he has taken on the responsibility of being the high school principal as well.
“As we raise our enrollment at the high school, we need to separate the jobs,” Bush said.
Over the last four or five years, he explained that the administrators have been very lean at the middle and high school due to its continued growth and expansion of the schools.
The search will be done through the city of Cape Coral website, along with national websites to fill the position.
The charter school will review applications, select candidates to be interviewed, along with interviewing the candidates and making a recommendation of their selection during February.
Bush said by the beginning of April they will have someone selected for the middle school principal position. Terrill will continue to act as the principal of Oasis middle and high school until the end of the school year.
“We are looking for an energetic, dynamic leader,” he said.
Oasis Middle School currently has 707 students enrolled. The expansion project, which began in December, will provide 12 additional classrooms for the middle school.
An open house will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday at Christa McAuliffe Elementary School, Oasis Elementary School, Oasis Middle School and Oasis High School to provide the opportunity for parents to see what the schools have to offer, along with filling out an application for their child to attend one of the schools.
