Six charged with drug offenses
Cape Coral police arrested six people, with a seventh still being sought, following the execution of three search warrants over the last few days.
Detectives with the Narcotics Unit, with the assistance of the SWAT team, Street Crimes Unit and K-9 Unit, conducted a search warrant Tuesday at a home at 1921 S.W. Embers Terrace. On Wednesday, search warrants were executed at homes at 110 S.E. Eighth Place and 221 S.W. 33rd Terrace.
Lt. Anthony Sizemore, spokesman for the Cape police, reported that six arrests were made on various drug charges. One person, Aaron Trent Byrd, 36, of 1921 S.W. Embers Terrace, was being sought by police Thursday on two counts of sale of opium of derivative.
According to police, a search was conducted at the Embers Terrace home after Oxycodone had been purchased from the residence on three separate occasions within the last few months. Holly E. Locke, 45, was arrested and charged with two counts of sale of opium of derivative.
She also was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
In a separate case, detectives wrapped up a two-month investigation Wednesday that resulted in searches at two homes. Keith Edward Demers, 23, of 110 S.E. Eighth Place, reportedly brokered several cocaine deals with a confidential source and two suppliers.
Sizemore did not know Thursday how many deals Demers is accused of brokering or the monetary value of the cocaine sold. Demers was arrested and charged with three counts of possession or sale of cocaine.
Also picked up during the execution of the warrant were Shane Bates, 41, of 110 S.E. Eighth Place, and Monty Bates, 61. Both men were charged with one count of possession of paraphernalia, while Monty Bates is additionally facing one count of possession of marijuana.
According to police, the two who supplied the cocaine were Manuel Omar Guterriez, 50, and Candy Wynnette Guterriez, 40, both of 221 S.W. 33rd Terrace. The two would deliver the cocaine to the Eighth Place home from their residence on 33rd Terrace. Both were arrested during the search.
Manuel Omar Guterriez was charged with four counts of new legend drugs, three counts of possession of paraphernalia, two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and one count of possession of marijuana 20 grams or less.
Candy Wynnette Guterriez is facing the same charges as Manuel, as well as a second count of possession of marijuana 20 grams or less and one count of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.
Sizemore did not know Thursday how much cocaine the two are alleged to have supplied or the monetary value of the drugs.
During the searches executed at the Eighth Place and 33rd Terrace homes, police seized an unknown number and type of handguns. Officials did not know Thursday whether any drugs or drug paraphernalia also were recovered.
Court dates were not available Thursday for the six arrested.
