A Fort Myers man accused of molesting a 10-year-old girl last year was sentenced to 20 years in prison Wednesday.

Timothy James Turner, 19, accepted a plea arrangement Wednesday morning. He was charged with lewd or lascivious molestation last January after a Cape Coral woman reported to police that her daughter told her that she had been molested by a person known to the family.

The victim told detectives that Turner took her into a bedroom, placed a dresser in front of the closed bedroom door so no one could walk in, then molested her. Detectives Todd Kerns and Christine Montesino-Mena interviewed Turner at police headquarters the next day. Turner confessed to the crime and was arrested n the charges of lewd or lascivious molestation, officials said.

As part of the plea arrangement, Turner also will have to register as a sexual offender.
