Outstanding school volunteers named
Lee County Public Schools has announced its 2010/11 Outstanding School Volunteers.
Congratulations go out to this year’s exceptional school volunteers:
· Corey Lepplemeier, Youth Volunteer, Gulf Middle School;
· Paul Pescatrice, Adult Volunteer, North Fort Myers High School;
· Renee Dzurinko, Senior Volunteer, Lehigh Elementary School.
These individuals help teachers and students in classrooms at all grade levels and on athletic fields; and, they work on projects at home, too. They assist in the front office, the media center and the lunchroom – wherever there’s a need, you’ll find a volunteer. These volunteers, in giving of their time, touch the lives of our students and truly make a difference in our schools and in our community.
Each year, the Florida Department of Education invites districts to nominate outstanding school volunteers in the categories of Seniors (62+), Adults (21-61), and Youth (20 and under). Selections are made from a large field of extremely deserving nominees. The final decisions are based on the dedication of the time and energy and the wide spectrum of activities in which the volunteers are involved. The School District of Lee County, together with the Florida Department of Education, designates each February as School Volunteer Month.
These individuals will be recognized by the School Board at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the regularly scheduled Action Meeting. Their names have now been submitted to the Florida Department of Education to be considered for regional recognition.
