A Cape Coral man and two others remained in jail Tuesday on charges connected to a series of burglaries at local Subway restaurants.
Christopher Allen Tucker, 45, of 402 S.E. 10th Ave., remained at the Lee County Jail on no bond. He was arrested and charged last week on burglary, criminal mischief and theft charges for reportedly providing transportation for three of the burglaries and for having full knowledge of the crimes.
Also accused is Casey Elizabeth Long, 33, and Damion Scott Stafford, 30, both of 1870 Lavonia Lane, North Fort Myers. According to officials at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, detectives have evidence that links Long and Stafford to at least eight Subway burglaries.
A surveillance operation was set up on Long and Stafford at the North Fort Myers home after authorities received a tip through Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers. On Feb. 13, detectives reportedly watched as the couple walked to a shopping center and broke into a business by breaking a glass door with a rock.
According to officials, Long first attempted to use a tool to pry open the front door to Nail 2001, located in Weaver’s Corner. When the door would not open, Stafford hurled the rock through the glass portion of the door. He then kept watch as Long entered the business.
Long and Stafford were taken into custody.
Long told detectives that she and Stafford had left their 23-month-old son at home unsupervised. Deputies responded to the home and found the boy at home asleep, officials reported. Long and Stafford were additionally charged with child neglect and the burglary of the nail salon.
During the execution of a search warrant, detectives reportedly found a sheet of paper titled “Subway” on a dresser in the home. Below the title was a list of addresses to Subway restaurants, some which were scratched out.
Officials said more charges are pending as the investigation continues.
