A Cape Coral motorcyclist is accused of speeding in excess of 100 mph in the area of Daniels Parkway and Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
Eric Santana, 26, of 218 Hancock Bridge Parkway, was arrested and charged Wednesday with reckless driving, as well as flee/elude law enforcement with lights sirens active, failure to register motor vehicle and attached registration license plate not assigned.
He remained at the Lee County Jail on no bond Thursday.
Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office have been tracking a motorcyclist since February who has been traveling at high rates of speed and eluding deputies in the area of Daniels and Six Mile Cypress, officials reported.
During the first encounter, deputies reportedly clocked the motorcyclist going 96 mph through a construction zone. A traffic stop was unsuccessful as the person allegedly accelerated to more than 100 mph and got away.
At other times, the motorcyclist was clocked at 106 mph and 135 mph.
Deputies increased their presence in the area over the past week, according to officials. On Wednesday, they identified Santana at about 7:30 a.m. and he was taken into custody by deputies.
Santana is scheduled to be in court April 4 and 18.
