2011 Spring Health Fair coming to Shell Factory
On Tuesday, May 3, a free 2011 Spring Health Fair will take place in the main parking lot of the Shell Factory & Nature Park in North Fort Myers. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Several major health and wellness partners, along with the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, will support the event.
“The Blood Mobile from Florida’s Blood Centers will be there, not only for you to donate blood but also to take blood pressure and give a free cholesterol test for a donation,” said Shell Factory Representative Samantha Quinn.
“It (the health fair) started with Mobile Mammo — mobile mammography from Radiology Regional Center — approaching the Shell Factory to ask about having a health fair.”
The mobile mammogram has a fee she said, but insurance can cover it.
The Eye Centers of Florida will be doing some free screenings. Direct Access Home Health will also be there. “Also, Next Level Fitness from the Weaver’s Corners Plaza will be here doing BMI -Body Mass Index tests to learn how much body fat you have.”
The American Red Cross will do free HIV screenings. In Lee County, representatives said the 50-plus age range has one of the highest infection rate.
Anyone who goes by the Shell Factory on Tuesdays knows that is the day of the complex’s incredibly popular flea market at the Shell Factory’s main entrance parking area off Cleveland Avenue.
Officials are suggesting health fair attendees enter and park at the Business 41 entrance.
There will be giveaways and prizes. You can check into the registration table beginning at 8 a.m.
“It’s always amazing how the Shell Factory offers so many services, programs and amenities to the community,” said Chamber Executive Director Kim Constantine.
The Shell Factory is at 2787 N. Tamiami Trail. in North Fort Myers. For information, call 995-2141.
