Home invasion robbery reported in south Cape Coral
Two men allegedly forced their way into a Cape Coral home Wednesday morning, accosted a man inside and stole a purse and a cell phone.
Police responded to a home invasion robbery in the 800 block of Miramar Street at about 6 a.m. According to a report, an occupant of the home said he heard a knock on the front door but saw no one through a front window.
When the resident opened the door, an unknown man reportedly stuck what appeared to be a black shotgun in his face. The man backed into his home and the gunman followed. The resident then slapped the gun out of the other’s hands.
According to the report, the two began to struggle on the floor of the home, and the resident was hit on the back of the head with a hard unknown object. While the man was restrained by one intruder, a second ransacked the home.
The resident’s cell phone was taken, along with a purse and wallet.
The men then left, leaving behind what appeared to be a plastic shotgun.
A woman inside the home at the time of the incident, and the owner of the purse, told police that she saw what occurred and she provided a statement.
The stolen items are valued at about $152, according to the report.
