Cape police seek information from hit-and-run incident
Cape Coral police are continuing to search for a vehicle involved in an early morning hit-and-run on Pine Island Road.
At 3 a.m. Wednesday, officers located an injured man sitting in the parking lot of a car dealership in the 400 block of Northeast Pine Island Road. He told police that he had been walking along Pine Island Road when he was hit by a vehicle.
According to officials, the man had a serious leg injury.
The man reported that the driver of the unknown vehicle, which had been traveling west on Pine Island Road prior to the accident, continued west. The driver did not stop to render aid. This occurred between midnight and 3 a.m.
This stretch of roadway is not well lit, and investigators believe that the driver may have stopped in another area to check the damage to the vehicle.
Police are asking for the public’s help to locate the vehicle and driver.
“We have absolutely nothing to go on,” Lt. Tony Sizemore, spokesman for the Cape police, said Thursday. “Any info that comes in would be helpful.”
