$45,000 worth of shopping carts stolen from Wal-Mart
At least 200 shopping carts worth an estimated $45,000 were reported stolen Monday from the Wal-Mart on Del Prado Boulevard.
A store manager told police that over the last several months, he has noticed that the number of shopping carts has seemed to dwindled at the store, at 1619 Del Prado Blvd. S. He believes that the thefts are for the metal salvage value of the carts.
The manager indicated that a minimum of 200 carts have been stolen, although there is no inventory numbers for the carts nor total number of carts that exist, according to a report.
It is believed that the thieves would load multiple carts into a van or box truck in the parking lot at any time or day over the three-month span.
The manager reported that the store will press charges.
