Update: Three charged in Lehigh shooting death
A Cape Coral man is among a trio accused of fatally shooting a man in a drug deal gone bad.
Quayshon Gregory Madison, 19, of 4406 Santa Barbara Blvd., was arrested and charged Wednesday with homicide murder not premeditated during other felony and marijuana possess over 20 grams in the death of Martin Christopher Plummer, 32. Madison is being held at the Lee County Jail on no bond.
Also arrested in the incident were Nelson Alberto Lopez, 22, transient, and Jonathan Zuluaga Hernandez, 25, of 4543 S.W. 21st St., Lehigh Acres. Both remained in custody Thursday at the jail.
According to records, Lopez was charged with homicide murder dangerous depraved without premeditation, weapon offense missile into dwelling vehicle building or aircraft, larceny grand theft of firearm and marijuana possess over 20 grams. Hernandez faces the same charges as Madison.
At 7:45 p.m. March 20, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at 3317 W. 12th St. in Lehigh Acres. Deputies arrived to find a resident of the home, Plummer, on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the facial area. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials reported that detectives assumed the investigation and determined that the trio had been at Plummer’s residence to buy a large quantity of marijuana. Lopez reportedly organized the drug transaction.
During the transaction, Lopez and one of the other men allegedly stole the drugs and Lopez grabbed Plummer’s handgun from the dining room table. In a brief struggle, Lopez fatally shot Plummer, officials said.
Madison has court appearances set for April 29 and May 19.
Lopez is expected to be in court April 21, May 9 and 19, while Hernandez is set for May 19.
