Cape police makes child pornography and molestation arrest

2 min read

A Cape Coral man has been charged with molestation and possession of child pornography after he reportedly touched and took pictures of a 14-year-old boy he met “while attending a local religious organization.”

Kenneth J. Dubeau, 55, of 32 N.E. 16th Place, Unit 5, was charged Thursday with lewd and lascivious molestation, seven counts sexual performance of a child (production of child pornography); and seven counts of sexual performance of a child (possession of child pornography), according to a statement released by Cape Coral police Thursday.

The investigation began after the youth’s mother called police and reported that Dubeau had taken naked pictures of the teen within the last few months and had also inappropriately touched him. The pictures were reportedly taken with a cell phone.

Investigators were told that the incident began approximately two weeks after the youth met Dubeau and was invited him to sleep over at his house. The youth reportedly slept over at the residence approximately five times within the last few months, the last time being approximately three weeks ago. The teen reported that on numerous occasions, Dubeau took unclothed, posed pictures of him, officials said.

The youth described the cell phone as a black Smartphone with a flat front screen.

The teen also said that during one of the sleepovers he was sleeping on a mattress on the floor when Dubeau touched him inappropriately.

On Tuesday, a search warrant was obtained for the Northeast 16th Place home. Dubeau was inside and, during a post Miranda interview, identified a black cell phone matching the one described by the youth as his personal cellular phone, officials said. The cellular phone was seized and a forensic examination was conducted.

“During a digital forensic search of the suspect’s phone at least (7) seven images of the victim engaged in sexual explicit conduct were located,” officials said in the statement.

“Evidence developed in the investigation indicated there may be more children who were victimized by Kenneth Dubeau and the investigation is continuing,” the release also states.
