McLaughlin to speak at SWF Historical Society Event
Former long-time WINK-TV news anchor Jim McLaughlin will speak at the next Southwest Florida Historical Society meeting, 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Southwest Florida Museum of History, 2031 Jackson St., Fort Myers.
McLaughlin, a Bokeelia resident, is now the director of the food program for the Beacon of H.O.P.E. agency on Pine Island where he cooks meals for people in need. He will speak about the evolution of television news in Southwest Florida and his role with the Beacon of H.O.P.E.
There is no admission charge and the public is invited.
The Southwest Florida Historical Society is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. The Society is located at 10091 McGregor Boulevard. Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to noon and 4-7 p.m., Wednesday; and 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday.
