Spots available for Hard Hat Hold’em Poker Tournament
Seats are still available for people to sign up for the Hard Hat Hold’em Poker Tournament.
Hosted by the Cape Coral Construct Industry Association, the annual event features a $1,500 jackpot for the first place winner, with the highest hand of the evening taking home $100. The entry fee for the deep stack tournament is $85 per player, with 10,000 chips to start out with. Spectator tickets are $30.
“It’s one of the few events that’s going to get them $1,500,” Moe Beneke, executive director of the CCCIA, said. “We have a lot of regulars that sign up.”
First place also takes home for the year a gold “Poker Champion” bracelet.
“It goes to the winner and comes back next year,” she said. “It gets rotated around.”
The tournament will take place Friday, July 18, at the Cape Coral Yacht Club. Registration will start at 5:30 p.m., with dinner available at 6 p.m. The “Shuffle-Up and Deal” event is set to begin at 7 p.m.
The entry fee includes a full buffet dinner of whole grilled beef tenderloin and tricolored pasta with Alfredo sauce, with salad, vegetables and dessert. Bubba’s Roadhouse & Saloon is catering it.
Players’ tickets also include free beer and wine while they participate in the tourney.
“There will be a bar – a cash bar,” Beneke said.
For the second year, the CCCIA has teamed up with the Cape Coral Caring Center for the event. Players that bring a minimum of three non-perishable food items or a $5 cash donation will receive an additional $100 in chips. Those who register by Thursday will also earn an extra $1,000 in chips.
Last year, more than 700 pounds of food and $613 in cash was collected for the center.
“Our goal is to get higher than that,” she said. “We’re just shooting above that.”
Beneke explained that the partnership helps to feed local children in need while school is out.
“Many kids eat lunch on the school program,” she said.
Besides the main tournament, there will be a blackjack table, 50/50 raffles and more.
“We have all that stuff going on on the side,” Beneke said.
Entry fees must be received by Monday.
“This is always one of our best sold-out events,” she said.
Seats are limited to 100 players. As of Tuesday, about half were reserved.
“The sooner, the better,” Beneke said of people signing up. “We were full last year.”
Entry fees can be paid by check to: CCCIA, 611 S.E. 11th St., Suite A, Cape Coral, FL 33990. They can also be made using a credit card online at: www.cccia.org or by phone at 239-772-0027.
She encouraged people who have never taken part before to register.
“It seriously is a lot of fun and it’s a great cause,” Beneke said.
Cape Coral Plumbing is the title sponsor this year.
